Online eLearning book [cde.athabascau.ca]

Athabasca University has recently published a book on eLearning and made it available free for download. The following are some quotes from it's website:

"In the seven weeks since its launch, more than 11,000 people have downloaded the online book, "Theory and Practice of Online Learning," Athabasca University's most recent contribution to online and distance education around the world.

Edited by Drs. Terry Anderson and Fathi Elloumi, "Theory and Practice" compiles the online and distance education expertise developed at Canada's Open University during the past 30 years. In 454 free-to-download pages, it addresses the practical issues all online educators face, from infrastructure and course development to student support and copyright issues.

"Its (the book's) popularity speaks to the need for this product," notes Anderson, AU's Canada Research Chair in Distance Education. "Distance learning institutions are the fastest growing, and every distance education institution in the world is struggling with how to go online."

Thank's to Rafael Calvo of Sydney University's Web Engineering group for the reference and the quotes.
